Mokume Photos

The finished Mokume coin, that has a new home. They're nearly twice as thick as Vestige.

The others are the effect of UV light on the synthetic rubies. They pop gloriously.

I realized a couple things in the few minutes since posting, if you have any changes or mistakes that may have occurred in dates, I'm more than happy to have them fixed. I'll gladly ensure the proper date for you. Secondly, it's been some time since the addresses were finalized and because of that you may have moved. I've made it more work for myself and will be double checking addresses prior to shipment and ensure they reach their proper destination.

Also something manageable for everyone, like a patch or lapel pin is what I'm thinking in regards to added bonuses for everyone. Forgot to mention that.

Thanks to the kind folks at BilletSPIN I've got a couple rubies to get some shots with prior to making the big order and having all the sizes.

I hope these help a little. I love them. Here soon I'll set one and see how it looks in the coin, rather than on as these pictures depict.

Final Count

Honestly...

I'm really not sure that I'm reading that number correctly.

Did we legitimately reach $12,000?!

$12,000. It's completely unreal.

Friends, because with all your help we accomplished this, I cannot begin to thank you enough for the faith and trust you've placed in my idea and abilities. I guess rather than telling you how much I appreciate it, I'll get myself to work and show you all how much I appreciate it.

Moving Forward

Needless to say, I have a great deal of work to do. Leading up to the New Year I'll be finishing the BackerKit survey as Kickstarter is gathering your pledges. In the next two weeks, the survey will be done, the prices for upgrades to your coins should be finalized, and shouldn't have changed since we last discussed them. There will be some new options available in the upgrade department as well, though I'm not sure that I want to spoil them yet.

I'll do some preliminary ordering of Vestige blanks from Shire Post, to ensure that I will have them in my possession as the planet materials make their way to me, and so that when the Kickstarter pledges are filled, you can show your friends how awesome they are and show them to the website that allows them to create their own. As a two man team, myself and my wife, we'll be working as efficiently as possible to get your Vestige's made, the website finished, and fielding all your questions and personalization desires.

With that being said, we're more than happy to get your coin as close to your vision as physically possible. Combinations of planet materials is more than acceptable, even encouraged so that the personalization with truly be yours.

Timeline

We're looking to keep to our projected timeline for delivery of Vestige, but if I'm honest, I wasn't expecting to get this much support and it may be that I don't get them all done within a two month timeframe. Knock on wood, we don't have to make that a topic between us.

All supplies should be in our possession within the second week of the new year, and we should be cranking out all sorts of great coins for you.

Thank You.

Lastly, thank you again. I really couldn't have done this without you fine folks. I'd love to hear from you in the mean time. I'm always accessible through Instagram, Facebook and of course, here on Kickstarter.

Let me know what you'd like to see the future hold. Would you want a nice leather sleeve for your coin so that as it resides in your pocket it's protected from other inferior coins and keys? Would a live feed video on Facebook or Instagram to watch the production and packaging be appealing to you? Would a live feed Q&A on the same platforms interest you? What exotic materials would you like to see on Vestige?(I'm looking into sourcing some meteorite for the planets for a genesis look)

Until January,

Jordan

Update from the mint!

Shire Post, as I've mentioned, is a pleasure to work with and their products are top notch. Here's some photos to get you up to the same excitement level I'm on and a little info about each.

As a note about the New Moon, my brain was functioning on about 3 hours of sleep when I had mentioned that the new moon was going to be sphere, and as you can see Shire Post has outdone themselves and made it to look very similar to the moon as we see it. I'm much more fond of this, my apologies for the misinformation folks.

We have our first strikes of Copper and Brass Vestige. They're gorgeous, and I cannot wait to see them in person.

Note about the finish, Shire Post and I have decided that a little more prep work into the blanks before minting will provide a smoother finish to the coin overall. These preliminary strikes are a touch rough, and we're working out that kink in smooth surfaces.

Seating hole drilled for the sun, and showing the subtle detailing of the asteroid belt, it's perfect. Not too much, but it's there. With a dark wash finish and some high spot relief, it'll be incredible.

Having pulled the pictures from our conversations on Instagram, they're a little less than sharp, but that's ok, sharp images this weekend when I have them. They're already on their way to me as you're reading this.

Upgrade Pricing

Some have asked about getting various upgrades with their Vestige and I can assure you that I'm doing all that I can to make it as personal for you as possible and not induce my own insanity.

Here's some basic info for some of the materials upgrades, I'm still working on some, as their representatives haven't gotten back to me yet. Some of these prices may change as I find better outlets in the future. Please note that most of these upgrade costs are generally only applicable to the Copernicus (copper) and Tycho (Brass) backers, as they are base models. Galilean models should be able to upgrade without any added cost.

  • Synthetic Ruby or Sapphire: $20 Entire system, 1-1/8" Sun, 8-1/16" planets and a 1mm Pluto
  • Synthetic Ruby or Sapphire Stuffed System, similar to the proto from the last update with many of the system's moons: $85 would equate to 40-1mm moons/dwarf planets, 8-1/16" planet/moons and 2-1/8" Sun and Jupiter.
  • White Ceramic System: $12 for 1-1/8" Sun, 8-1/16" planets and a 1mm Pluto.
  • White Ceramic Stuffed System: $52 would equate to 40-1mm moons/dwarf planets, 8-1/16" planet/moons and 2-1/8" Sun and Jupiter.
  • Black Ceramic System: $18 for 1-1/8" Sun, 8-1/16" planets and a 1mm Pluto
  • Black Ceramic Stuffed System: $85 would equate to 40-1mm moons/dwarf planets, 8-1/16" planet/moons and 2-1/8" Sun and Jupiter.

Any special combinations of these can be achieved, but it will be through a much more in depth process I'll be able to accomplish a little later on, some have already set up special set ups, and we'll do what we can to get them accomplished.

Some have even asked about a precision Gold Ball as the sun, I'm looking into it, and how to avoid turning it into an oblong mushed lump. I'll let you know how it goes. Gold would look great. I'm also looking at some luminescent options for the Sun as well.

If there's anything you'd like to see done with Vestige, don't hesitate to share your ideas with me here, or on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. I'll be more than happy to hear them and see what I can do to make your coin, yours.

Cheers from a frigid Idaho,

Jordan
